Ida Bentinger | intreccio
land art / installazione partecipata
To bring feminine material and aesthetic to the urban environment. Crossing boundaries and prejudice between arts and craft, Intreccio honours all those female artists who, despite their virtuosity, are not recognized as such. Ida Bentinger starts from the idea of occupying public spaces with an artwork of big dimensions, a site-specific installation specifically designed for the green area of Piazza Case Bonazzi in Calderino, an open wound in the unfinished local urban planning. The artist, by focusing on research of the meaningful connection between her installations and the identified locations, takes inspirations from the tradition of macramé, bobbin lace and the wicker weaves of Monte San Pietro and proposes a handwoven artwork realised through the yarn techniques, traditionally of the domestic space. The installation is intertwined with the consolidation and instauration of relationships in the host community which, through its associations, has been actively engaged in the realization of the installation, so that it could be weaved by different female hands (and not only). BIO The Swedish artist Ida Bentinger graduated at the Konstfack Stockholm University of Arts and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, the city where she now lives. In her site-specific artistic interventions, it’s possible to trace her work as a set designer for cinema, theatre and television. She investigates man, its story and nature through material stories which shed light on the imagination and comprehension of feelings. Her land art installations are present in the main art festivals in Europe. https://idabentinger.com/ |
infoPiazza Case Bonazzi
A housing complex with a windmill of uncertain construction period. What we know, however, is the date of the last paving, dating back to 1796. In between the houses lays the old “Chiesina” Church of Beata Vergine del Rosario. Today, the channel that flew through the windmill flows through a tube under the pedestrian walkway on the back. The houses, privately owned, are waiting for a buyer able to bring them back to the fore-planned arrangement, together with the Chiesina, freed from the crumbling buildings that used to surround it. Piazza Case Bonazzi should have been the plaza of the municipality building, that as of today is working for its regeneration. |
